So last month you voted to reduce the number of Full Time Officers from 7 to 5. Click here to see the results.
To remind you of what the current positions are:
President
Welfare Officer
International Officer
Education Officer
Sports Officer
Women’s Officer
Societies & Services Officer
When I ran for President, my strong feeling was that our current structures don’t really make much sense. When I was campaigning to become President, students in their hundreds said that they didn’t know what the Students’ Union did, who the Officers were, or why any of it even mattered.
It’s time for change.
We seem to throw Officers at problems and don’t have an effective process that allows us to speak to students before decisions are made. The pole fitness issue is just a very public example of the problem we face. When I said that we’d completely overhaul our democracy I meant it; changing the roles of the Officers is just the start.
We’re using this as an opportunity to ask students how they want to be represented. With that in mind think objectively and how you’d ideally like to be represented. Be as critical as you want, but be honest. There will be some things that we do now that work, and most definitely some things that really don’t.
Decide what the 5 new Full Time Officer Positions should be
The National Union of Students will compile a report using the results from the survey below with recommendations on what the Full Time Officer positions should be, as well as some fundamental changes to how we listen, and interact with students.
This is probably the most powerful survey you’ll do at the University. It’ll shape the student voice in Swansea for what could be the next decade. So get as many people as you know to fill it out:

If you'd like to complete the survey through the medium of Welsh: http://nussurveys.org.uk/Surveys/SSUDEMOC/Welsh/201305_ssudemoc.htm
This survey will close on the 18th November.
