SWANSEA STUDENTS: WE NEED YOU!

Full Time Officer (FTO) elections are upon us and that means we need you, your votes and your opinions on who should run your organisation and be your representation for the coming year.

SO what are Full Time Officers?

We’re the people elected and employed to represent you, 24/7 for 365 days while we’re in office we are your voice, your champions and your leaders. Officers have specific remits and in Swansea we have five officers: President, Education, Welfare, Sports and Societies and Services. Each officer is democratically elected by YOU!

You’ll notice in the next few days candidates campaigning to gain your vote in the elections to become an officer so now is the time to sit up and listen, take and interest and use your vote wisely!

SO what are campaigns?

Each candidate for the position has written a manifesto and organised a week long campaign (19th Feb-27th Feb) to get your attention and get your vote! You’ll see banners, badges, posters, leaflets and t-shirts everywhere you turn. Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram will light up and websites will be built, all with the purpose of letting you know how fantastic each candidate could be if you elect them to be YOUR representative.

SO what should you do now?

My advice is to listen, read, and talk! All the candidates will be on the mall, door knocking, giving out leaflets and promoting themselves on social media. Pay attention, have a read, look at the manifestos here: https://www.swansea-union.co.uk/elections/candidates/52/ You can also come along to our open event: Candidates Question Time on Monday 23rd February at 12:30 in the Hive http://www.swansea-union.co.uk/#!/ents/event/1372/

SO how to vote?

The best way to vote is to read each manifesto and choose the candidate that  you believe have the manifesto that’s right for you and where you think you’ll be in the next year of your time here in Swansea (or if you’re in your final year the candidate you think will best fulfil the role- leave a legacy). Then log into your Students Union account here and vote any time between midday on Tuesday 24thFebruary 2015 and Friday 27th February 2015 at 5pm!

SO what next?

Results will be announced from 6:30pm on Friday 27th Feb! Keep your eyes peeled for the campaigns and results, use your vote and have your say on YOUR representatives for the next year!

YOUR TIME IS NOW – HELP YOURSELF.
