► Extenuating Circumstances
Extenuating Circumstances
Students are affected by many new and sometimes bewildering situations. These factors can be responsible for a student to under-perform in their academic work. The most common cause is illness, but other extenuating circumstances are just as valid, such as bereavement, relationships, housing problems, finance and immigration problems.
Students must bring these factors to the attention of their tutors prior to the School Examining Boards meeting, so that they can be taken into account. The student has to produce appropriate evidence.
We would always advise students to keep their personal tutors up to date with any factors that may affect performance. This should be done in both a face to face meeting and with a follow up email, as this can latter be used in evidence that the student informed the school.
