► Suspension, transfer, withdrawal

Suspension, transfer and withdrawal

Suspension
There are circumstances where a student may need to suspend their studies, these circumstances may be personal, financial or for health reasons. To do so a request needs to made using the appropriate form.
https://intranet.swan.ac.uk/login/
There are also circumstances where a student may be required or advised to suspend by the University. These are outlined here
http://www.swansea.ac.uk/registry/A-ZGuide/S/SuspendingStudiesUndergraduatestudents/
Transfer
In some cases a student may feel that the course of study they are on is not suitable for them and they may wish to transfer to another course within the University. The University is aware of this situation and has in place provision to cover transfers.
The guidelines are here
http://www.swansea.ac.uk/registry/A-ZGuide/T/Transferringprogrammesofstudy/ and the form requesting a transfer is available here for undergraduates, https://intranet.swan.ac.uk/common/downloadit.asp?file=/documents/sis/schemetransferformug.doc
here for research students
https://intranet.swan.ac.uk/common/downloadit.asp?file=/documents/sis/schemetransferformpg.doc
and here for taught masters.
https://intranet.swan.ac.uk/common/downloadit.asp?file=/documents/sis/schemetransferform_taught.doc
It should be pointed out that there could be financial implications to transferring studies as the LEA has to be informed and they may not support a second course of study.
Withdrawal
Students who are considering withdrawing from Swansea University should get advice and help before doing so. This can be from tutors or supervisors and should also be discussed with the academic registry. Whatever the reason for withdrawal the advice centre is there to give support and help. Information on withdrawal can be seen here. http://www.swansea.ac.uk/registry/A-ZGuide/W/WithdrawingfromtheUniversity/
In all cases of suspension, transfer or withdrawal, students are advised to discuss it with their personal tutors and to come to the advice Centre for help and advice.
