Swansea University Students’ Union Celebrates Best Bar None Award!
Swansea University Students’ Union has been awarded the Best Bar None Award for demonstrating best practice within its bars and clubs. This award means that Student Union owned club Sin City, is the only club in the city centre to host this award!
Best Bar None is a National Award Scheme supported by the Home Office and aimed at promoting responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises. JC’s, Wonky Sheep, Diva’s and Sin City were all awarded Bronze for a range of criteria including their good management and being a safe and enjoyable environment for customers. Achieving a Best Bar None award ensures everyone that comes to a Union run bar or club can enjoy a great time, whilst feeling reassured by the fact they are responsibly and safely run.
Martin Caldwell the Unions Finance and Commercial Manager said that 'The Best Bar None Award is a wonderful achievement for the Union, it reflects the efforts put it by our commercial team to improve standards across our licensed premises and promote responsible alcohol retailing. The award shows that the student experience in our venues is now better than ever and will keep improving in the future.'
The Students’ Unions took part in the Best Bar None scheme as a part of the Alcohol Impact Project. In a bid to tackle irresponsible drinking the Swansea University Students’ Union is involved in the Alcohol Impact Project in collaboration with NUS and the Home Office. The aim of the project is to change the culture surrounding students’ alcohol consumption. Currently in in its pilot year the Alcohol Impact Project is being delivered across seven institutions including Nottingham and Brighton University.

Mae Undeb y Myfyrwyr Prifysgol Abertawe wedi ennill Gwobr Best Bar None am ddangos arferion gorau o fewn ei thafarndai a chlybiau. Mae’r wobr hon yn golygu bod y clwb sy’n eiddo i Undeb y Myfyrwyr - Sin City, yn unig glwb yn y ddinas i gynnal y wobr hon!
Mae Best Bar None yn Gynllun Gwobr Genedlaethol a gefnogir gan y Swyddfa Gartref gyda’r nod o hyrwyddo rheolaeth gyfrifol a gweithredu safleoedd alcohol trwyddedig. Cafodd JC’s Wonky Sheep, Diva’s a Sin City gwobr Efydd ar gyfer ystod o feini prawf sy’n cynnwys ei rheolaeth dda, bod yn amgylcheddol diogel a pleserus ar gyfer ei chwsmeriaid. Mae cyflawni Gwobr Best Bar None yn sicrhau bod pawb sy’n dod i’r bar neu glwb sy’n cael ei redeg gan yr Undeb yn gallu mwynhau, wrth deimlo’n galonnog am y ffaith ei fod yn cael ei redeg yn gyfrifol ac yn ddiogel.

Cymerodd Undeb y Myfyrwyr rhan yn Gynllun Best Bar None fel rhan o Brosiect Effaith Alcohol, mewn ymgais i fynd i’r afael ag yfed anghyfrifol mae Undeb y Myfyrwyr Prifysgol Abertawe yn cymryd rhan mewn Prosiect Effaith Alcohol ar y cyd ag UCM a’r Swyddfa Gartref. Nod y prosiect yw newid diwylliant o amgylch myfyrwyr ac yfed alcohol. Ar hyn o bryd mae Prosiect Effaith Alcohol yn cael ei gyflwyno ar draws saith o sefydliadau, gan gynnwys Nottingham a Phrifysgol Brighton.
