The Union and University have issued a joint statement advising students how to seek help.
Dear students,
Following the recent death of a student at the University, we would like to remind students of the services that are available to help those who are dealing with bereavement and distress. The Students’ Union Advice & Support Centre is based on the ground floor of Fulton House by the west entrance. The Centre is staffed by professional advisers who will be able to support those affected, and will also be able to refer them to other relevant support services including those available on campus through WellbeingServices. The Advice & Support Centre can be contacted via phone on 01792 295821 and is open from 9am-4.30pm for students drop in. Wellbeing Services is in Horton House and their drop-in sessions are 2-3.30pm Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10-11.30am on Fridays. Information on bereavement can be found on the University website at www.swan.ac.uk/media/bereavement%20guide.pdf or via CRUSE at www.cruse.org.uk/
Any student who feels unable to sit an exam or is concerned about their exam performance as a result of bereavement related distress should consult with their College without delay.
Yours sincerely
