Swansea University Living History and Re-enactment Society.

About Us

The Living History Society (formerly CLASH) is Swansea University's living history and re-enactment society, and is also a fore-group for the National organisation Regia Anglorum that covers Viking, Saxon and Welsh re-enactment between the years 800 AD and 1066. As a society we make up a part of the local organisation, Gwerin Y Gwyr (Gwerin) and our training sessions and events may involve people involved with the Gwerin but not the Living History Society.

  • Ever wanted to ride a viking longboat through the Thames or Gloucester Docks?
  • Ever wanted to make authentic viking valuables from furniture to weapons to clothing?
  • Ever wanted to go travelling the country and spend the night in some of Britain's greatest historical cities and landmarks?
  • Ever wanted to have the opportunity to get your face on TV?
  • Ever wanted to just go out for a few drinks with some awesome people?

If your answer to any of the above is yes, then the Living History Society is definitely a society that would interest you!

We meet on a weekly basis (Saturday afternoons) to train with authentic weaponry, learning how to fight like a Viking. As well as providing sessions to assist with the making of authentic kit, we tour the country by participating in both local and national events. Pembroke, York, Detling, London and Gloucester are just some of the places you'll have the opportunity to visit.If you have any questions about anything at all, just send us an email, and we'll be happy to help.

Y Gymdeithas Hanes Byw (CLASH yn flaenorol) yw’r gymdeithas hanes byw a ailberfformio Prifysgol Abertawe, ac hefyd yn blaen-grwp i’r gymdeithas genedlaethol Regia Anglorum sydd yn delio gyda ailberfformiadau Llychlynwyr, Sacsoniaid a Cymraeg rhwng y blynyddoedd  800 AD a 1066. Fel gymdeithas rydym ni yn yn aelodau o’r grwp lleol, Gwerin Y Gwyr (Gwerin) ac efallai fydd rhai o’n ymarferiadau a digwyddiadau yn cynnwys bobol ofewn y Gwerin sydd dim yn y Gwmdeithas Hanes Byw.

  • Erioed wedi eisiau hwylio mewn llong Llychlynwyr trwy’r Tafwys neu dociau Caerloyw?
  • Erioed wedi eisiau creu dillad, arfau neu dodrefn Llychlynwyr?
  • Erioed wedi eisiau teithio ardraws y wlad a treulio’r nos mewn rhai o tirnodau a trefoedd hanesyddol pwysicaf Prydain?
  • Erioed wedi eisiau cael cyfle I cael dy wyneb ar y teledu?
  • Erioed wedi ond eisiau mynd allan am ychydig o diodydd gyda pobol anhygoel?

Os ydych yn cytuno gyda unrhyw un o’r cwestiynau uchod, mae’r gymdeithas hon yn un a fyddai yn eich diddori!

Rydym yn cwrdd bob wythnos ar pnawn dydd sadwrn I ymarfer gyda arfau yr adeg, I ddysgu syt I ymladd fel Llychlynwyr. Yn ogystal a darparu sessiynau I helpu creu cit, rydym yn teithio ar draws y wlad i cymeryd rhan yn digwyddiadau lleol a chenedlaethol. Penfro, Efrog, Detling, Llundain, a Chaerloyw yw dim ond rhai o’r llefydd cewch y cyfle i ymweld.Os oes genych chi ynryw cwestiynau am unrhywbeth ogwbwl, gyrwch ebost I ni, ac mi fyddwn yn hapus I helpu.
