See fantastic speakers

We also meet regularly for formal and informal events. As a member of SUCA, you will have the opportunity to engage and listen to many prominent politicians. Some recent highlights for us have been; Boris Johnson, Sajid Javid, Theresa May, Penny Mordaunt, James Cleverly, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Johnny Mercer, Matt Hancock, Gavin Williamson, Paul Davies, Bryon Davies and Suzy Davies.

Most recently, we made the trip up to North Wales to attend the 2020 Welsh Conservative Party Conference in Llangollen. Here we were treated to an address by the Prime Minister, followed by after-dinner speeches from Priti Patel, Geoffrey Cox and Simon Hart.

Open up exciting opportunities

Members of SUCA have gone on to work as Members of Parliament, as local Councillors, in the Welsh Assembly, as Conservative Campaign Managers and as Parliamentary Caseworkers, Researchers and Assistants. You can also gain experience with student politics with us, we recently passed a motion through the Student Union to get the Union Jack flying on campus, this hasn't been done in the past.

Make a real difference in Elections

In 2015 the Conservatives took the constituency of Gower by 0.06%. In 2017, Labour took it back with a 3.6% swing. In 2019, we reduced the Labour majority in Gower from 3,269 to 1,837 with a swing of 1.5%, progress which took place with the help of our memebers campaigning on the ground.

At the Senedd/Welsh Parliament level, Gower received one of the strongest pro-Conservative swings of the 2016 election. At the next election, there is a strong possibility we can turn Gower blue in the sea of red that is South Wales, but we need your help. Our members will be canvassing regularly in the Swansea area and Gower in particular. Feel free to contact us via any medium if you are interested in lending a hand. We will be holding Election training sessions for those who would like some informal canvassing practice before heading out.
