Hi, I am Georgia your current Sports Officer and I am re-running to be your 2021/2022 Sports Officer!  

I am a Sport Science graduate, during my studies I played Water-polo and was Captain of the Swimming team.  

My favourite project this year was leading on the Movember campaign where sports teams were critical to fundraising £60,000 for the charity. 

I have thoroughly enjoyed being a virtual sports officer, but I would like the opportunity to get offline and show what I could do without Covid restrictions on sport. I am hardworking, resilient and managed to achieve the majority of my manifesto points.   

Having me continue in the sports officer role would mean I already have a well-versed understanding of the job. I can jump straight into helping the new club committees and actioning my manifesto.

Manifesto Points   

 

• I want to offer more opportunities for our alumni students, specifically those recently graduated who have had their time at University impacted by the pandemic. For example, to return to Swansea for events like an Alumni Vs Current student sports tournament and encouraging clubs to have old boys/old girls' weekends.  

 

• Swansea has provided me with more than a degree but a well round student experience. I want to make up for the lack of student experience this academic year and return Wednesdays to a full afternoon of extracurricular activity for the whole student community, offering recreational sporting opportunities for all, not limited to our competitive sports teams. 

 

• I will continue working with the University Estates and Facilities department representing the needs of the student body in the current Bay Campus and the Sketty Lane sports facility improvement plans. 

 

• I would continue to prioritise the mental health of student-athletes and aim to have over half of our sports clubs with a welfare officer position filled on their committees. I want to establish a culture in the sporting community that promotes positive mental health and students feel they can get support.  

 

• Remove barriers to participation by aiming to set up a student hardship fund for sport, enabling students with financial hardship to take part in their desired sport at University. 

 

• I will continue working with the University and clubs to provide more opportunities for students with disabilities to take part in sport.  

 

• Provide better on campus Union and University rewards to members of sport committees to show we appreciate their hard work running the sports teams. 

 

• I will ensure that the University upholds, funds and reaches the targets set out in the three-year Sport Swansea Active University Strategy.  

 

• Support clubs with a recruitment drive for new members by a joint Union and University approach to getting more students and staff physically active.  Improving our freshers fair and have a contingency plan if Covid prevents another in-person freshers fair.  

 

• I will develop a pathway for elite student-athletes who are transitioning out of performance sport during their time at University.

Helo, fi yw Georgia, y Swyddog Chwaraeon cyfredol ac rwy’n ail-sefyll i fod yn Swyddog Chwaraeon 2021/2022! 

Mae gen i radd mewn Gwyddor Chwaraeon, ac yngyd â fy astudiaethau chwaraeais Polo-dw ac roeddwn i‘n Gapten ar y tîm Nofio. 

Fy hoff brosiect eleni oedd arwain ar ymgyrch Movember lle roedd timau chwaraeon yn rhan hanfodol o godi £60,000 i'r elusen. 

Rydw i wedi mwynhau bod yn Swyddog Chwaraeon rhithwir yn fawr, ond hoffwn i gael y cyfle i fynd oddi ar-lein a dangos yr hyn y gallwn i ei wneud heb gyfyngiadau Covid ar chwaraeon. Rwy'n weithgar, yn wydn ac wedi llwyddo i gyflawni'r mwyafrif o addewidion fy maniffesto. 

Mae gen i ddealltwriaeth hyddysg o'r swydd eisoes. Wrth barhau gyda’r rôl, gallaf helpu pwyllgorau clybiau newydd a gweithredu fy maniffesto yn syth. 

Gyda dy bleidlais, gallaf ddechrau cynllunio'r flwyddyn orau o chwaraeon i bob myfyriwr!  

 

Addewidion y Maniffesto 

 

• Rydw am gynnig mwy o gyfleoedd i'n cyn-fyfyrwyr, yn benodol y rhai a raddiodd yn ddiweddar ac sydd wedi cael eu hamser yn y Brifysgol wedi ei effeithio gan y pandemig. Er enghraifft, dychwelyd i Abertawe ar gyfer digwyddiadau fel twrnamaint chwaraeon myfyrwyr cyfredol yn erbyn cyn-fyfyrwyr ac annog clybiau i gael penwythnosau hen fechgyn / hen ferched. 

  

• Mae Abertawe wedi darparu mwy na gradd i mi, ond profiad myfyriwr crwn. Rydw i am wneud iawn am ddiffyg profiadau myfyrwyr y flwyddyn academaidd hon a sicrhau bod prynhawn Mercher llawn gweithgareddau allgyrsiol ar gyfer y gymuned myfyrwyr gyfan, gan gynnig cyfleoedd chwaraeon hamdden i bawb, heb fod yn gyfyngedig i'n timau chwaraeon cystadleuol.  

 

• Byddaf yn parhau i weithio gydag adran Ystadau a Chyfleusterau'r Brifysgol sy'n cynrychioli anghenion myfyrwyr ar Gampws y Bae a chynlluniau gwella cyfleusterau chwaraeon Sketty Lane. 

 

• Byddwn i‘n parhau i flaenoriaethu iechyd meddwl myfyrwyr sy’n chwarae chwaraeon ac yn anelu at gael rôl Swyddog Lles ar bwyllgorau dros hanner ein clybiau chwaraeon. Rydw i am sefydlu diwylliant yn y gymuned chwaraeon sy'n hybu iechyd meddwl cadarnhaol lle bod myfyrwyr yn teimlo y gallant gael cefnogaeth. 

 

• Cael gwared ar rwystrau i gyfranogi trwy anelu at sefydlu cronfa caledi myfyrwyr ar gyfer chwaraeon, gan alluogi myfyrwyr â chaledi ariannol i gymryd rhan yn eu camp ddymunol yn y Brifysgol. 

 

• Byddaf yn parhau i weithio gyda'r Brifysgol a chlybiau i ddarparu mwy o gyfleoedd i fyfyrwyr ag anableddau gymryd rhan mewn chwaraeon.  

 

• Darparu gwobrau gwell o fewn yr Undeb a’r Brifysgol i aelodau pwyllgorau chwaraeon i ddangos ein bod yn gwerthfawrogi eu gwaith caled yn cynnal y timau chwaraeon. 

  

• Byddaf yn sicrhau bod y Brifysgol yn cynnal, yn ariannu ac yn cyrraedd y targedau a nodir yn Strategaeth Prifysgol Weithredol Chwaraeon Abertawe tair blynedd.  

 

• Cefnogi clybiau sydd ag ymgyrch recriwtio ar gyfer aelodau newydd trwy ddull ar y cyd rhwng yr Undeb a'r Brifysgol o gael mwy o fyfyrwyr a staff yn gorfforol. Gwella ffair y glas a chael cynllun wrth gefn os yw Covid yn atal ffair y glas arall. 

  

• Byddaf yn datblygu llwybr ar gyfer myfyrwyr sy’n chwarae chwaraeon elitaidd sy'n trawsnewid allan o chwaraeon perfformio yn ystod eu hamser yn y Brifysgol.
