My name is Lauren Davies and I am currently studying a Master in Medieval Studies here at Swansea University.
Returning to studying after a prolonged gap of 13 years filled me with a lot of nervousness, but the team at Swansea University at each step has made it seem like I have never left. If I were to be elected your Education Officer, this is indeed the atmosphere that I would like to continue to foster, nurture and see grow. The Pandemic has caused a great deal of upheaval and the one thing that has remained constant is the excellent level of educational standards that Swansea has offered us. I aim, if you are kind enough to elect me to office is to continue upholding these standards and to support both lectures and Students grow the already stellar reputation of this university.
My term as your education officer will be one of service. I will work tirelessly to ensure that each student across this institute receives the education that provides a strong and reliable foundation for the rest of your lives. I know these are words to you know, but my personal motto, taken from the suffragettes is ‘deeds not words’ and through my deeds of hard work, support I will represent your needs, wants and concerns.
If elected I promise to:
Offer support and encouragement to all students.
Help create inclusive learning experience for all students.
Work with both the teaching staff and the students in the next academic year to (hopefully) transition from online teaching.
Work with subject and college representatives to provide you with a solid academic support network.
Ensure that all students feel that they can get the best out of their time at Swansea University.
You can vote online for Officers and Referendums at www.swansea-union.co.uk/elections/ anytime between 11am on Monday 8th March – 1pm on Thursday 11th March 2021
Fy enw i yw Lauren Davies ac rwy'n astudio gradd Meistr mewn Astudiaethau Canoloesol yma ym Mhrifysgol Abertawe.
Fe wnaeth dychwelyd i astudio ar ôl cyfnod hir o 13 mlynedd fy llenwi â llawer o nerfusrwydd, ond mae'r tîm ym Mhrifysgol Abertawe ar bob cam wedi gwneud iddo ymddangos fel nad rydw i erioed wedi gadael. Os caf fy ethol yn Swyddog Addysg, dyma'r awyrgylch yr hoffwn barhau i faethu, meithrin a gweld yn tyfu. Mae'r Pandemig wedi achosi cryn gynnwrf a'r un peth sydd wedi aros yn gyson yw'r lefel ragorol o safonau addysgol y mae Abertawe wedi'u cynnig i ni. Rwy'n anelu, os ydych chi'n ddigon caredig i fy ethol, yw parhau i gynnal y safonau hyn a chefnogi darlithwyr a myfyrwyr i ehangu ar yr enw da sydd eisoes yn amlwg yn y Brifysgol hon.
Bydd fy nghyfnod fel eich Swyddog Addysg yn un o wasanaeth. Byddaf yn gweithio'n ddiflino i sicrhau bod pob myfyriwr yn y sefydliad hwn yn derbyn yr addysg sy'n darparu sylfaen gref a dibynadwy am weddill eich bywydau. Rwy’n gwybod bod y rhain yn eiriau yn unig, ond fy arwyddair personol, a gymerwyd o’r swffragetiaid yw ‘gweithredoedd nid geiriau’ a thrwy fy ngwaith caled a chefnogaeth byddaf yn cynrychioli eich anghenion, eich dymuniadau a'ch pryderon.
Os caf fy ethol, rwy’n addo i:
Cynnig cefnogaeth ac anogaeth i bob myfyriwr.
Helpu i greu profiad dysgu cynhwysol i bob myfyriwr.
Gweithio gyda'r staff addysgu a'r myfyrwyr yn y flwyddyn academaidd nesaf i drosglwyddo (gobeithio) o addysgu ar-lein.
Gweithio gyda chynrychiolwyr pynciau a cholegau i ddarparu rhwydwaith cymorth academaidd cadarn i chi.
Sicrhau bod pob myfyriwr yn teimlo y gallant gael y gorau o'u hamser ym Mhrifysgol Abertawe.
Gallwch bleidleisio dros Swyddogion a Refferenda ar www.swansea-union.co.uk/elections unrhyw bryd rhwng 11am ar Ddydd Llun 8fed Mawrth - 1pm ar Ddydd Iau 11eg Mawrth 2021.
