Overview

Are you interested in Mental Health in Sport? If so, the Student Mind ‘Mental Health in Sport’ workshop could be for you…

Raising awareness around mental health in sport and improving the wellbeing of student-athletes at Swansea was a top priority for the 2020 / 21 academic year. Therefore, in line with this years’ Movember campaign the Students’ Union and Sport Swansea are launching the opportunity for our sports students to participate in Student Minds’ ‘Mental Health in Sport Workshop’.

We will be running mental health in sport workshops at 10am-12pm every Tuesday and Thursday, throughout November.

The workshops will allow students involved in University sport to discuss mental health, the challenges faced, how to support a teammate who is experiencing difficulties, and what the club can do to promote a positive environment for its members’ mental health.

The workshops are also linked in with a Master's research project from the School of Sport and Exercise Science.  The overall intention of the study is to ensure that the mental health workshops are as effective as possible in improving mental health literacy, and thereby supporting the mental health and wellbeing of staff and students associated with Swansea University sport.

If this opportunity appeals to you, please email Georgia Smith (Sports Officer) to confirm your place. georgia.smith@swansea-union.co.uk

Please note we will be operating a ‘first come, first serve’ policy for dates, however, you will be able to select more than one date and will be notified with an email sharing the zoom link with the date of your confirmed workshop.
