Cycle sharing schemes are popping up all over the UK – from London to Belfast, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol… the list goes on.
We think Swansea deserves a piece of the action!
We’ve entered the Santander Cycles University Challenge competition to win £100,000 of investment in 50 bikes at 5 docking station hubs across the city. To win the competition, we have to crowdfund as much money as we can, to support the operating costs of the scheme.
Bike sharing – what is it and why is it so great?
In a nutshell – bike sharing is a great way to get around a city. There are docking stations dotted around at various locations, with bikes that you can unlock by tapping a few buttons on your mobile phone. You can hop on and go where you want to go, then drop the bike off at the nearest docking station to your destination. Simple and no hassle.

What would the Swansea Scheme look like?
We’re planning for 5 docking station hubs along the sweep of Swansea Bay:
If we win the competition the scheme will launch in spring 2018!
How can I make it happen?
We need you to “pledge” through crowdfunding. This means you need to commit to support the scheme if we win the competition.
- If you pledge £5 you will get a free one day trial.
- If you pledge £15 that would get you a term’s free membership.
- If you pledge £25 that would get you a year’s free membership (normally £60).

Rydym wedi cymryd rhan yng nghystadleuaeth University Challenge Santander i ennill buddsoddiad o £100,000 mewn 50 o feiciau a 5 gorsaf ddocio ar draws y ddinas. I ennill y gystadleuaeth, mae’n rhaid i ni gasglu gymaint ag y gallwn o arian drwy gyllido torfol, er mwyn cyfrannu at gostau gweithredu’r cynllun.
Rhannu Beic – beth yw hynny a pham ei fod mor wych?
Mewn gair – ffordd wych o deithio o gwmpas y ddinas yw rhannu beic. Mae gorsafoedd docio wedi eu lleoli mewn lleoliadau amrywiol, gyda beiciau y gallwch eu datgloi dim ond wrth bwyso ychydig o fotymau ar eich ffôn symudol. Gallwch neidio ar feic, mynd i ble bynnag y mynnwch ac yna adael y beic yn yr orsaf ddocio agosaf at eich cyrchfan. Mae’n syml ac yn ddidrafferth.

Sut allaf i wneud iddo ddigwydd?
Rydym angen i chi wneud “addewid” drwy gyllido torfol. Golyga hyn eich bod yn gwneud ymrwymiad i gefnogi’r cynllun os byddwn yn ennill y gystadleuaeth.
- Os ydych yn addo £5 byddwch yn cael treial diwrnod am ddim.
- Os ydych yn addo £15 byddwch yn cael aelodaeth am ddim am dymor.
- Os ydych yn addo £25 byddwch yn cael aelodaeth blwyddyn am ddim (£60 yn arferol).
Pan fyddwch yn addo arian drwy crowdfunder.co.uk/bikes4swansea ni fydd yr arian yn cael ei gymryd o’ch cyfrif yn syth – dim ond os (pan!) fyddwn ni’n ennill y gystadleuaeth ac y bydd modd i chi dderbyn eich gwobr fydd yr arian yn cael ei gymryd.
