The General Election will soon be here! 12 December to be exact… so, here’s everything you need to know about registering to vote.

Your vote really does matter! It’s your chance to make any kind of difference. Just imagine – the more young people who vote, the more our concerns will be taken seriously…
Am I eligible to register to vote?
To vote, you need to be 18 or over and either a UK citizen, Irish, or a qualifying Commonwealth citizen.
How do I register to vote?
It’s simple. It takes 5 minutes online here.
What do I need?
You’ll be asked for your National Insurance number when you register. Your National Insurance number is a combination of 9 numbers and letters. For example ‘QQ 12 34 56 C’. You can typically find this on a pay slip, but if you’re not sure – take a look here.
Where do I register to vote?
You can register at both of your home and term-time address. But remember that it’s illegal to vote more than once, so you’ll have to choose just the one location.

Your allocated polling station will be shown on your poll card after you register. You can also use this handy search to find out. Type in the postcode of either your home or term-time address.
What if I can’t vote in person on 12 December?
Not to worry – there are a couple of ways around this. You can vote by postal vote or a proxy vote (which means someone can vote on your behalf).
How can I check if I am already registered to vote?
If you’re unsure – you can contact your local Electorial Registration office. You can use this service to find the address if you live in England, Scotland or Wales.

I bleidleisio, mae rhaid i chi fod yn 18 oed neu’n hyn a naill ai’n ddinesydd o’r DU, yn Wyddelig neu’n ddinesydd cymwys o’r Gymanwlad.

Mae’n syml. Mae’n cymryd 5 munud ar-lein yma.
Beth sydd angen arnaf?
Gofynnir i chi am eich rhif Yswiriant Gwladol wrth i chi gofrestru. Mae eich rhif Yswiriant Gwladol yn gyfuniad o 9 rhif a llythyren. Er enghraifft ‘QQ 12 34 56 C’.

Bydd eich gorsaf bleidleisio yn cael ei dangos ar eich cerdyn pleidleisio ar ôl i chi gofrestru. Gallwch hefyd ddefnyddio'r chwiliad defnyddiol hwn. Teipiwch god post naill ai'ch cartref neu'ch cyfeiriad tymor.
Beth os na allaf bleidleisio yn bersonol ar 12 Rhagfyr?
Peidiwch â phoeni – mae yna ddwy ffordd o gwmpas hyn. Gallwch chi bleidleisio trwy bleidlais bost neu bleidlais ddirprwy (sy’n golygu y gall rhywun bleidleisio ar eich rhan chi).
Sut alla i weld os ydw i wedi cofrestru i bleidleisio yn barod?
Os nad ydych chi’n siwr – gallwch chi gysylltu â’ch swyddfa Gofrestru Etholiadol leol.
Gallwch chi ddefnyddio’r gwasanaeth hwn ddod o hyd i’r cyfeiriados ydych chi’n byw yn Lloegr, yr Alban neu Gymru.
