NUS Delegate Nominations

We’re asking you to nominate yourself to be an NUS Delegate, but what exactly does that mean? It means you get to represent your Students’ Union on a national scale, have your say on important issues, and put something amazing on your CV.

What is NUS?

You may be familiar with the Acronym NUS and the discounts they give you, but NUS are much more than that. The National Union of Students (NUS) is made up all the Students’ Unions across England, Scotland, Wales and NI - including this one! This means it holds roughly 650 unions which makes up over 7 millions students.

NUS hold several Policy making conferences each year and both a Welsh and National level, which they use to carry out research, lobby government, create campaigns, vote on national policy and vote in national Full-Time Officers (like ours, but for the whole of Wales and the UK).

What’s an NUS Delegate?

NUS Delegates represent their unions at the Welsh and National conferences, which means you get to have your say on campaigns and policies, and put forward any new ideas you may have about how things are done.

We’re looking for 4 NUS Wales Delegates to participate in NUS Wales conferences, and 5 NUS UK Delegates to participate in national NUS Delegates. 2 places in each category are reserved for self-defining women, and the others are open to anyone. You can nominate yourself to be an NUS Wales Delegate, an NUS UK Delegate, or both!

What do I have to do?

As a NUS Wales Delegate you would attend the NUS Wales Conference on the 13th - 14th March 2018 in Cardiff, and as an NUS UK Delegate you would attend the NUS National Conference 26-29th March 2018 in Glasgow (over the Easter hols)! You’ll be representing every Swansea University student so it’s a big deal! It’ll give you great life skills and look impressive on your CV, so what’s stopping you?

How do I apply?
