Speak Week

Wythnos Adborth

Speak Week

During our Speak Week survey last year, we asked you what you'd change about the Uni if you had the chance. So we took your suggestions, put our thinking caps on, and decided on how to fix the issues.

Here's a few things that came up a lot, and how we plan on working on them...

More atmosphere on Bay Campus:
We've just opened a Root on Bay Campus, our student-facing staff work on both Bay and Singleton Campuses and we replicate most of our events across both campuses. We'll continue to increase the SU presence on Bay Campus and our officers will work with the University through BCEG (Bay Campus Experience Group) to improve it as much as possible.

Parking:
Our Officers and CEO will lobby the University to ensure parking is improved for students on both campuses.

Bus Travel:
Societies and Services Officer Chris has been working with the Uni to extend the MyTravelPass to cover 16-21 year olds, which will happen very soon. The pass is free and offers a 1/3 off all bus travel, including annual passes. Keep your eyes peeled for updates.

More study spaces:
Last year, we secured BASE in Engineering Central as student study space, and we're constantly working on getting more. Education Officer Chloe will lobby the University to more spaces available to students and keep you all updated with her progress.

Better food:
Root is so popular that we've opened one on Bay Campus, we're bringing new food to JCs soon, and Costcutter is always introducing new stock. Our President Gwyn is sitting in Catering Review meetings with the University and Societies and Services Officer will work with the University to ensure students are asked what they'd like to see when new food is coming into their services.

Root on Bay Campus:
We've not opened a branch of Root in the Core on Bay Campus, so you can buy hot food and snacks to go. You can also get Root snacks in The College!

Social Spaces:
President Gwyn Aled has been working with the Uni on bringing a new £10m purpose-built student space building to Bay Campus, which will be built next year. Our Officers are also looking at having a similar initiative on Singleton Campus.

Better sports facilities:
Sports Officer Sophie sits on the Task and Finish Group, which was set up to look at how the University can improve the sports facilities on both campuses, and ask students what they'd like to see available to them. Sports teams have been asked what extra facilities they would require in their ideal scenario and the group is looking at this and taking into consideration how they can best accommodate teams. There's also an exciting announcement on its way so keep your eyes peeled!

Events that aren't alcohol based:
Our Ents team will work on arranging more non-alcoholic events on both campuses, and Societies and Services Officer Chris will work with societies to ensure that there is a wider range of events for students.

More eco-friendly:
ICYMI, we've been running a Green Campaign to make sure the SU is as environmentally-friendly as possible! Our Environment Officer is also working on extending this to the Uni and even the city centre. Check out this video to see how.

Access to microwaves:
We have microwaves available in our SU Building on Bay Campus and in Talbot near our offices on Singleton Campus. They're free to use for any students! See where they are here.

More water facilities:
Funnily enough, our Societies and Services Officer and Welfare Officer are currently working on a Refill campaign and signing up as many places on campus and in the city centre so you can refill your bottle with water without having to buy a plastic one. For the full list of places that offer water refill stations, download the Refill app.

Wythnos Adborth

Yn ystod ein harolwg Wythnos Adborth llynedd, gofynnon ni i fyfyrwyr beth hoffen nhw newid yn y Brifysgol os oedd ganddynt y cyfle. Felly rydyn ni'n gwneud beth allwn ni i ddelio ag unrhyw broblemau sydd gennych chi.

Dyma rai o'r awgrymion a gafodd eu crybwyll, a sut rydyn ni'n bwriadu gweithio arnynt...

Gwell awyrgylch ar Gampws y Bae:
Rydyn ni newydd agor Root ar Gampws y Bae, mae ein staff sy'n gweithio gyda myfyrwyr yn gweithio ar y ddau gampws ac rydyn ni'n ail-greu rhan fwyaf o'n digwyddiadau ar y ddau gampws. Byddwn ni'n parhau i gynyddu presenoldeb UM ar Gampws y Bae a bydd ein swyddogion yn gweithio gyda'r Brifysgol drwy BCEG (Grwp Profiadau Campws y Bae) i'w wella cymaint â phosib.

Parcio:
Bydd ein Swyddogion a Phrif Swyddog Gweithredol yn lobio'r Brifysgol i sicrhau bod parcio yn cael ei wella i fyfyrwyr ar y ddau gampws.

Trafnidiaeth bws:
Mae'r Swyddog Cymdeithasau a Gwasanaethau, Chris, wedi bod yn gweithio gyda'r Brifysgol ehangu'r MyTravelPass i gynnwys pobl 16-21 oed, a fydd yn digwydd cyn bo hir. Mae'r tocyn yn rhad ac am ddim ac yn cynnig gostyngiad o 1/3 ar drafnidiaeth bws, gan gynnwys tocynnau blynyddol. Cadwch lygad am rhagor o ddiweddariadau.

Rhagor o lefydd i astudio:
Llynedd, llwyddon ni i agor BASE yn Adeilad Canolog Peirianneg, fel rhywle i fyfyrwyr allu astudio, ac rydyn ni o hyd yn gweithio ar gael rhagor o lefydd i chi. Bydd y Swyddog Addysg, Chloe, yn lobio'r Brifysgol i agor rhagor o lefydd i chi astudio.

Gwell fwyd:
Mae Root mor boblogaidd, rydyn ni newydd agor siop ar Gampws y Bae, rydyn ni'n dod â rhagor o fwyd i JCs cyn bo hir, ac mae Costcutter o hyd yn cyflwyno stoc newydd. Mae ein Llywydd Gwyn yn mynychu cyfarfodydd i Arolygu Bwyd y campysau, a bydd Chris, eich Swyddog Cymdeithasau a Gwasanaethau yn gweithio gyda'r Brifysgol i sicrhau bod myfyrwyr yn cael eu gofyn pan fod bwyd newydd yn dod i'w gwasanaethau.

Root ar Gampws y Bae:
Rydyn ni wedi agor Root ar Gampws y Bae, felly gallwch chi nawr brynu bwyd poeth a byrbrydau i fynd o'r Core. Gallwch chi hefyd brynu byrbrydau Root yn y Coleg!

Llefydd Cymdeithasol:
Mae Llywydd Gwyn Aled wedi bod yn gweithio gyda'r Brifysgol i ddod ag adeilad newydd gwerth £10m i Gampws y Bae, a fydd yn cael ei adeiladu flwyddyn nesaf. Mae ein swyddogion hefyd yn edrych ar gael cynllun tebyg ar Gampws Singleton.

Gwell gyfleusterau chwaraeon:
Mae Sophie, y Swyddog Chwaraeon, yn eistedd ar grwp a gafodd ei sefydlu i weld sut all y Brifysgol wella cyfleusterau chwaraeon ar y ddau gampws, a gofyn i fyfyrwyr beth hoffen ni fod ar gael iddynt. Cafodd timoedd chwaraeon eu gofyn am gyfleusterau ychwanegol ac mae'r grwp yn edrych ar ystyried sut i lwyddo i wneud hyn. Mae newyddion cyffrous ar y ffordd felly cadwch eich llygad allan am hynny!

Diwgyddiadau nad sy'n cynnwys alcohol:
Bydd ein adran digwyddiadau yn gweithio ar drefnu rhagor o ddigwyddiadau nad sy'n cynnwys alcohol, ac bydd Chris, y Swyddog Cymdeithasau a Gwasanaethau yn gweithio gyda chymdeithasau i sicrhau bod amryw ehangach o ddigwyddiadau ar gael i fyfyrwyr.

Mwy eco-gyfeillgar:
Rydyn ni wedi bod yn cynnal
Ymgyrch Werdd i sicrhau bod UM mor eco-gyfeillgar â phosib! Mae ein Swyddog Addysg nawr yn gweithio ar ehangu'r ymgyrch i'r Brifysgol a chanol y ddinas. Gwyliwch y fideo hon i weld sut.

Mynediad at feicrodonau:
Mae meicrodonau ar gael yn ein Adeilad ar Gampws y Bae ac yn Talbot, ger ein swyddfeydd ar Gampws Singleton. Gall myfyrwyr eu defnyddio nhw yn rhad ac am ddim! Ewch yma i weld lle maen nhw.

Rhagor o gyfleusterau dwr:
Mae ein Swyddog Cymdeithasau a Gwasanaethau, a'n Swyddog Lles yn gweithio ar ymgyrch Refill gan  gofrestru cymaint o lefydd â phosib i alluogi pobl i ail-lenwi eu poteli heb brynu un plastig. Am y rhestr lawn o lefydd sy'n cynnig y gwasanaeth hwn, lawrlwythwch yr ap Refill.
