Come and join Swansea WEMS for our most exciting event of the year!
We will spend the weekend camping in the very heart of Wales, and receive training from the wonderful Dr David Lee, who you might recognise from our expedition medicine talk at the start of the year. It's a wonderful opportunity to get stuck in with both the medical and remote side of WEMS
The event will be held at Gwersylla Tymawr Campsite near Aberystwyth (SY23, 3JR). Ticket price will be £30 for paid WEMS members and £33 for non-members. Tickets are capped so will be available until 07/06/2024 OR until they sell out.
Ticket cost includes: BBQ on night 1, campsite fee, and donation to Western Beacons Mountain Rescue as part of the training costs
Not included in ticket price:
Breakfast and lunch- please bring your own
Dinner at the Hafod Hotel on night 2: pre-order details will be sent closer to the time
Travel arrangements to and from the campsite: please let a committee member know if you have trouble arranging travel and we will try and find a ride share
Full timetable to be released closer to the time, but expect camping, training, and some outdoor fun
About David:
David is a GP with special interest in mountain, expedition and sport medicine. He spends half his week as a GP in the Swansea valley and the other half as Simulation Lead at Swansea University Medical School. Alongside these David is the Medical Sub Committee Secretary for Mountain Rescue England Wales and volunteers with Western beacons Mountain rescue team. He has joined several charities as an expedition medic and works as a racecourse medical officer at Ffos Las. The balance of emergency and primary care in beautiful locations alongside sharing knowledge with others connects all of his favourite things.
