Diversifying Library Collections
In response to feedback given to the libraries at Swansea University this year over a lack of diversity in the collections; the libraries team have added a range of new book, articles, curated reading lists to reflect the experiences of our student body.
The libraries are welcoming recommendations and suggestions from students for addition to their collections that are more diverse and reflect the lived experiences of our students.
Theresa Ogbekhiulu, your Education Officer, said “The Library is working on diversifying its collections, and would like to engage with students as co-creators. I am encouraging students to submit book titles, articles and materials that mirror various experiences and help understand different life perspectives. This is part of a wider campaign in the Students' Union towards a decolonised curriculum. As your Education officer, I have been engaging staff members across all levels and colleges in the University in the conversation on the importance of reflecting the experiences and voices of the diverse student body in the curriculum. This campaign is not just for now, but a long-term movement.”

Amrywio Casgliadau'r Llyfrgelloedd
Mewn ymateb i adborth a roddwyd i'r llyfrgelloedd ym Mhrifysgol Abertawe eleni ynghylch diffyg amrywiaeth yn y casgliadau; mae'r tîm llyfrgelloedd wedi ychwanegu ystod o lyfrau, erthyglau a rhestrau darllen wedi'u curadu i adlewyrchu profiadau ein myfyrwyr.
Mae'r llyfrgelloedd yn croesawu argymhellion ac awgrymiadau gan fyfyrwyr ar gyfer ychwanegu at eu casgliadau sy'n fwy amrywiol ac yn adlewyrchu profiadau ein myfyrwyr.
Dywedodd Theresa Ogbekhiulu, eich Swyddog Addysg, “Mae'r Llyfrgell yn gweithio ar amrywio ei chasgliadau, a hoffai ymgysylltu â myfyrwyr fel cyd-grewyr. Rwy'n annog myfyrwyr i gyflwyno teitlau llyfrau, erthyglau a deunyddiau sy'n adlewyrchu profiadau amrywiol ac yn helpu i ddeall gwahanol safbwyntiau o fywyd. Mae hyn yn rhan o ymgyrch ehangach yn Undeb y Myfyrwyr tuag at ddadwaddoli'r cwricwlwm. Fel eich Swyddog Addysg, rydw i wedi bod yn ymgysylltu ag aelodau o staff ar bob lefel ac ym mhob coleg yn y Brifysgol yn y sgwrs ar bwysigrwydd adlewyrchu profiadau a lleisiau'r myfyrwyr amrywiol yn y cwricwlwm. Nid yw'r ymgyrch hon yn un unigol, mae'n rhan o fudiad tymor hir. ”
