Children at the Students’ Union Day Nursery have been tasting fresh fruit and vegetables as part of a healthy eating plan.
The children have been learning about how the food grows and the colours and appearance of them. The food tasting was part of the Autumn theme this term, which also included learning about the changing environment before Winter.
Tracey Knuszka said ‘the idea behind the event was to let the children touch and taste the food we have been discussing’.
The Nursery’s menu is based around a healthy eating plan which encourages children to eat five portions of fruit and veg a day. During the tasting children were encouraged to talk about which foods they liked and why.
The Day Nursery aims to assist student parents who are returning to education, however is open to all. There are still spaces available in the over twos area, for any enquiries please contact nursery@swansea-union.co.uk or 01792 513151.
