What a day for the Green and White Army.
Well, what a day for the Green and White Army. Results did not go our way overall, but we can safely say all of our players left everything out there, a huge effort and exceptional commitment. And the fans, what can we say, the support you showed our teams was second to none!
For those of you who missed out on the day, here is a quick round up of the action…
It wasn’t to be for the Mens Rugby team as they conceded a first loss in this fixture since 2019 in a fiery encounter. Earlier in the evening our Ladies Rugby team succumbed to a 41-12 defeat. There were some positives to be had from the rugby though, with our Freshers Rugby team running out winners by 13 points to Cardiff’s 8.
Elsewhere in the shield results, there were wins for Swansea in both Ladies and Mens Canoe Polo, Swimming (Short Course), Mens Squash, Ladies Hockey and Archery, our Golfers also recorded a win. However, it was not to be on this occasion as Cardiff notched up wins regularly throughout the day, leaving a gap to great to bridge. The final result in the Varsity Shield being 34-9 to Cardiff.
A huge thank you to all the players, staff and fans for a memorable day of Varsity action and we look forward to fighting for the Varsity Shield again next year, on home turf!
