WELCOME TO SWANSEA SAILING!

Team racing, Fleet racing, Casual sailing, learn to sail sessions, and some great socials, we’re proud to offer something for everyone regardless of if you’re a seasoned pro or if you have never sailed before!

We sail twice a week out of Tata Steel Sailing Club in Port Talbot with Wednesday afternoon beginner and casual sessions (followed by evening socials!) and race training on Saturdays.

Free Taster Sessions!

Not sure if its for you? This year, On Saturday the 26^th and Wednesday the 30^th of September, we are offering two totally free taster sessions (including transport so don’t panic you don’t need to walk!) aimed at new sailors so you can come along and see if sailing is for you.

On Saturday the 3^rd of October we are holding race trials, which will be another free to attend session for those of you who are already experienced to come and see if you want to join our club and to try your hand at team racing if you haven’t already

Social Sailing:

Our beginners sailing sessions are a great opportunity to take a break from academics and get out on the water - whether you have experience sailing or not! 

Beginners sailing sessions are held at Tata Steel Sailing Club on Wednesday afternoons; finishing in time for the evening social. RYA qualified instructors run the sessions, giving you the opportunity to learn new skills and develop your sailing competency - we would love to see you there!

Whether it is a beach bonfire, pub golf, or the infamous Spartan Curry Night; socials are great opportunities to interact with people from all areas of the club. Follow our Instagram @swanseasailing for more information on the socials. 

Team Racing:

If you wish to take your sailing to the next level & take part in sailing competitions, our Saturday race training is for you. Racing on the team will give you the opportunity to compete all over the country, including at BUCS and Varsity. 

We run our own sailing event annually - Swansea Spartan (February) - during which other universities join us in Swansea for a weekend of sailing as well as two socials they will never forget!

Our race trials (to competes in offical races as for example BUCS) are in early October. All information will be posted on our Instagram page and memebers chat! 

Summer Sail Week:

This year we sailed around Athens and beautiful Greek islands on our annual Summer Sail Week and were living the Mamma Mia dream. Summer Sail Weeks is a chance for all members, experienced or not, to test their yachting skills while enjoying beautiful views, amazing sunsets & hot weather and the awesome Mediterranean nightlife.
