What is International Womens Day?

Each year on the 8th March, we celebrate International Women's Day (IWD). It is a day centred around celebrating and acknowledging the social, political, and cultural achievements of all women.

Important Infomation

IWD was first marked as an official national holiday by the United Nations back in 1975. It’s ultimately a day to honour and reflect, something we don’t often have time to in our busy day-to-day lives.

IWD is also marked by a call to action for the acceleration of gender equality, to educate others and to raise awareness for women’s equality. A single day in the year may not be enough to teach us that we are all equals, but it does allow us to take a day out of our lives to appreciate those who have done incredible things.

This March 8th we're hosting a series of events in our own SU bar, JC's, from coffee mornings, discussion groups, to a paint & sip session. Keep an eye on our What's On page for updates!
