Personal Statement
Hi, I am Izaak Morris, I use they/them pronouns. I am currently studying at Swansea University for my 4th year as a student on the integrated master’s course in theoretical physics and currently, I am also the subject representative. I love Swansea University and the City; I feel very at home when I am here. I feel a strong connection to the university, especially as I am the 3rd generation of my family to study at Swansea. I am currently a college representative and was previously the school representative for 3 years; as a result, I have become used to working with both the University and the union to get the best out of each student’s time here at Swansea. I love going on bike rides around Swansea and also participate in a lot of adventurist activities like climbing and kayaking.
Manifesto
As Education Officer I would continue to help improve students’ education, alongside over 350 Academic Reps at Swansea University. My goal is to provide support and representation to all students at an academic level. I would work with all the faculties, to make sure students have a say on the way they are educated at Swansea.
I aim to improve the current way extenuating circumstance are done to allow for a less stressful and easier process for students as the new system that was put in place due to covid needs to be improved.
As a part of my role as school representative I have been told about the varying quality of Academic Mentors. I strive to improve this system so that students can get the most out of it. Hopefully, by working on better ways to train the academic mentors as well as a better system to match mentors to students.
I will work hard to get our StudyAid campaigns and events during exam time even better with a variety of activities and freebies to help students through the stress-filled exam period.
As a student who experienced the very last reading week (gap between exams and teaching) I understand the importance and necessity of this break. I will continue to work with the university to re-incorporate reading week in some form, whether it be brought back in full, or having the first week back being purely introductory material.
I wish to work alongside the Mental Health Officer to increase access and awareness of support available for students. This can be done by better publicising information on what support is available to students allowing departments to best direct their students to the relevant support.
There has been communication issues between departments and the students as E-mail is not always the best or most effective way of contact for students, I will investigate improving the method departments use to contact students and help implement this communication system

Rydw i yn fy mhedwaredd flwyddyn yn astudio ym Mhrifysgol Abertawe ar y cwrs meistr integredig Ffiseg Ddamcaniaethol a fi yw’r Cynrychiolydd Pwnc hefyd. Rydw i wrth fy modd â Phrifysgol Abertawe a'r ddinas; Rwy'n teimlo'n gartrefol iawn yma. Rwy’n teimlo cysylltiad cryf â’r Brifysgol, yn enwedig gan mai fi yw’r 3edd genhedlaeth o fy nheulu i astudio yn Abertawe. Rydw i ar hyn o bryd yn Gynrychiolydd Coleg a chyn hynny roeddwn i'n Gynrychiolydd Ysgol am dair mlynedd; o ganlyniad, rydw i wedi dod i arfer â gweithio gyda’r Brifysgol a’r Undeb i gael y gorau allan o amser pob myfyriwr yma yn Abertawe. Rydw i wrth fy modd yn mynd ar deithiau beic o amgylch Abertawe ac yn cymryd rhan mewn llawer o weithgareddau anturus fel dringo a chaiacio.
Maniffesto
Fel Swyddog Addysg byddwn i'n parhau i helpu i wella addysg myfyrwyr, ochr yn ochr â dros 350 o Gynrychiolwyr Academaidd ym Mhrifysgol Abertawe. Fy nod yw darparu cefnogaeth a chynrychiolaeth i bob myfyriwr ar lefel academaidd. Byddwn i'n gweithio gyda'r holl gyfadrannau i wneud yn siwr bod myfyrwyr yn cael dweud eu dweud am y ffordd y maent yn cael eu haddysgu yn Abertawe.
Rwy'n bwriadu gwella'r ffordd bresennol o wneud amgylchiadau esgusodol i ganiatáu ar gyfer proses lai o straen a haws i fyfyrwyr gan fod angen gwella'r system newydd a roddwyd ar waith oherwydd Covid.
Fel rhan o fy rôl fel Cynrychiolydd Ysgol rydw i wedi cael gwybod am ansawdd amrywiol Mentoriaid Academaidd. Rwy'n ymdrechu i wella'r system hon fel bod myfyrwyr yn gallu cael y gorau ohoni. Rwy’n gobeithio gweithio ar ffyrdd gwell o hyfforddi'r mentoriaid academaidd yn ogystal â gwell system i baru mentoriaid â myfyrwyr.
Byddaf yn gweithio'n galed i gael ein hymgyrchoedd a digwyddiadau StudyAid yn ystod amser arholiadau hyd yn oed yn well gydag amrywiaeth o weithgareddau a nwyddau am ddim i helpu myfyrwyr trwy'r cyfnod arholiadau llawn straen.
Fel myfyriwr, cefais brodiad o’r wythnos ddarllen olaf (bwlch o un wythnos rhwng arholiadau a dechrau addysgu), rwy'n deall pwysigrwydd ac angenrheidrwydd yr egwyl hon. Byddaf yn parhau i weithio gyda’r Brifysgol i ail-gyflwyno'r wythnos ddarllen mewn rhyw ffurf, boed yn cael ei ail-gyflwyno'n llawn, neu sicrhau bod yr wythnos gyntaf yn ôl yn ddeunydd rhagarweiniol yn unig.
Gobeithiaf weithio ochr yn ochr â'r Swyddog Iechyd Meddwl i gynyddu mynediad ac ymwybyddiaeth o'r cymorth sydd ar gael i fyfyrwyr. Gellir gwneud hyn drwy roi gwell cyhoeddusrwydd i wybodaeth am y cymorth sydd ar gael i fyfyrwyr gan ganiatáu i adrannau gyfeirio eu myfyrwyr orau at y cymorth perthnasol.
Bu problemau cyfathrebu rhwng adrannau a’r myfyrwyr gan nad e-bost bob amser yw’r ffordd orau na’r ffordd fwyaf effeithiol o gysylltu â myfyrwyr, byddaf yn ymchwilio i wella’r dulliau a ddefnyddir gan adrannau i gysylltu â myfyrwyr a helpu i weithredu’r system gyfathrebu hon.
