Board of Trustees

Trustees have influence and control over, and legal responsibility for the Union’s management and administration. They have a duty to act in the charities interest and play an important role that contributes significantly to the way that the Union operates and engages with its membership, staff and other stakeholders.

Our six Full Time Officer Trustees are elected annually by our membership

The Union has three Co-opted Trustees who are appointed via a simple majority vote of the Union Appointments Committee. They remain in office as a Trustee for terms of up to four years, up to a maximum of three terms.

Our three Student Trustees are appointed via a simple majority vote of the Union Appointments Committee. They remain in office as a Trustee for two years and may serve a maximum of two terms.

The Union has a trading subsidiary called SUSU Trading Ltd. All trading profit generated by the subsidiary is given to the Union via Gift Aid.

The Board of Directors are:

Governance Documents

The Memorandum and Articles of Association is the governing document that defines the Students’ Unions aims and objectives and the way the organisation undertakes its core functions. These documents are reviewed every five years.

The Students’ Union has a formal Relationship Agreement with Swansea University to demonstrate the mutual support between the two organisations and to pave the way for future collaboration. The agreement is reviewed and agreed annually.

The Executive Committee’s responsibility shall include representation and campaigning work and the implementation of Policy in so far as these responsibilities have not been delegated to another committee
