With over a decade of global experience in the charity sector and a deep commitment to Discovery, I am well-prepared to continue contributing to its vision and mission if re-elected. Over the past two years, my roles as a student volunteer, ambassador, intern, treasurer, and finance and funding subgroup member have been incredibly rewarding, especially in promoting Discovery's projects and events among students. My current position at Swansea University’s MyUniHub has further enabled me to advocate for Discovery’s initiatives, signposting students to gain new skills and volunteering opportunities through Discovery.

My association with Discovery has been so impactful that, for instance, I was interviewed by BBC Radio Wales once to share my experiences as an international student volunteer. My overall exposure to Discovery’s various programs and events has undoubtedly enhanced my interpersonal and employability skills, along with my ability to connect and learn from others.

As an existing trustee, I have participated in critical decision-making processes many times that ensure the smooth operation of the charity. My volunteer work with other renowned charities, such as Swansea Climate Action Network, BAMHS, and Goludy Community Fridge, and recognition, such as the ‘Peer Leader Award’, ‘Global Citizen Award’ and the Gold HEAR award from Swansea University/Discovery, have enhanced my confidence and broadened my understanding of charity operations in the UK. This experience has honed skills vital for if I am re-elected as a trustee for Discovery. I am also an active member of various fundraising groups and networks, both in the UK and globally: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mamtadreamer/

My previous roles with global charities have enhanced my abilities to manage large projects and diverse teams, emphasising collaborative efforts as key to organisational success. If re-elected, I will diligently abide by the organisation’s policies and procedures alongside my co-trustees. I will responsibly manage the organisation's resources through careful planning and monitoring, ensuring they are used primarily for serving the target population. Moreover, I am committed to seeking resourceful partnerships and funding to sustain our efforts. My approach to leadership includes a long-term perspective, attention to detail, impactful communication, team building, and managing complexity. I am adept at seeking guidance in challenging situations, fostering team spirit, and driving change and innovation.

These strengths and experiences make me an ideal candidate to continue as a Discovery trustee, where I can further contribute to our collective goals and impact.
