President
Grace Hannaford

Grace was a Geography student, member of the Netball club, and founder andPresident of CoppaFeel before becoming the Students' Union's WelfareOfficer last year. This year, she's the President and has a load of ideas to makesure students' welfare is at the heart of what we do.

She's passionate about helping others, she's famous for her constantsmile and up-beat attitude, and she's always happy to answer any questions.

As President, I lead the Elected Officer team and the Students'Union as a whole. I make sure that your Union is inclusive and celebratesit's diversity. I protect and extend the rights of all Swansea students,and I'm the key link to the Uni, NUS and other key stakeholders.'

Grace's manifesto:

  • Ensure that a purpose-built student experience building is constructed on Bay Campus.
  • Hold a Refreshers Fayre
  • Introduce Sexual Assault Liaison Officers
  • Make it easier for students to review our venues and services
  • Introduce more mental health and consent training for students and staff
  • Introduce weekly dog walking sessions for students to manage stress
  • More funding for sports clubs and societies
  • Ensure the dedicated Multi Faith building on Bay Campus remains a priority and is completed

Education Officer
Theresa Ogbekhiulu

As an undergraduate student from The College and a postgraduatestudent from the College of Arts and Humanities, Teresa knows loads about theUni. She's also an experienced Rep, so your happiness with your course isreally important to her.

'As the Education Officer, my role is to provide support andrepresentation for all Swansea University Students. I work with the 7Colleges and over 350 Subject and College Reps to make sure students have avoice on their Education.'

Teresa's manifesto:

  • Push for more study spaces and computers on Bay Campus
  • Introduce microwaves in the library
  • Eradicate library fines
  • Push for more scholarship opportunities
  • Increase library resources on both campuses
  • Reduce in the cost of replacing student cards
  • Ensure transparent, adequate and helpful feedback fromassessments and exams
  • Provide adequate training and support to Reps

Inês Teixeira-Dias

As a student, Inês sat on the Snowriders Committeeand was a keen photographer. She's a Psychology graduate and she has apassion for the environment and travelling. She's got years of experience working forthe SU under her belt, as a regular Root and Fulton Outfitters staff member.

'Hello! I'm Inês and I'm the Societiesand Services officer for this year. My role is split between supportingsocieties and overseeing the running of our Union services. If you haveany issues or ideas about these things, just get in touch!'

  • Streamline the online room booking system, increasing the numberof bookable society rooms
  • Introduce a ‘Society of the Month’ scheme
  • Host a Society Ball
  • Increase number of water refill stations on both campuses.
  • Expand the Tesco Express on Bay Campus
  • Design an app for the Student’s Union
  • Create more volunteering opportunities for students
  • Expand the range of trips on offer
  • Open a nightclub on Bay Campus
  • Tackle the use of plastic bags and Styrofoam packaging in campusdining establishments

Sports Officer
Ffion Davies

A keen sportswoman, Ffion brings the same dedication and enthusiasm to her role inthe Union. She studied Sports Science, was President of the Netball club, and often competed inBUCS. She also spent the last year as a Sports Exec so it’s fair to say she knows whatshe’s doing.

'Hi, I'm Ffion, your Sports Officer. I'm here to support,engage and develop students in all things sport; from participation all the wayto high performance.'

Ffion's manifesto:

  • Decrease the cost of facilites hire
  • Make Bay Campus sports facilities equal to Sketty Lane
  • Recruit another Strength and Conditioning coach for clubs
  • Ensure that the funding allocation to clubs is transparent
  • Ensure clubs recieve increased funding
  • Offer coaching opportunities for students in the localcommunity
  • Promote the benefits sport has on mental health
  • Launch a ‘Pride in Sport’ day to celebrate the LGBT+community
  • Introducing new fundraising initiatives

Ffion Davies

Mae Ffion yn chwaraewraig awyddus,ac mae'n sicrhau bod ei rol yn yr Undeb yn derbyn yr un ymrwymiad a brwdfrydedd. Astudiodd hi Gwyddoniaeth Chwaraeon, roedd hi'n Gapten i'r Clwb Pêl Rwyd,ac mae hi wedi cystadlu mewn BUCS nifer o weithiau. Roedd hi’n rhan o Bwyllgor Gweithredol Chwaraeon Abertawe llynedd hefyd,felly mae hi wedi paratoi ar y rol.

Ana Guri

Ana is known for her passion for all things eco-friendly and her interestin student wellbeing. She graduated with a Biology degree and was the SU EnvironmentPart-time Officer last year, so she certainly knows a thing or two about representingyou.

'Hi, my name is Ana and I'm your Welfare Officer.I’m here to help you enjoy your time at University by looking at the risksyou face, making your wellbeing my priority and making sure everyoneis aware of the advice and support available.'

  • Promote a more face-to-face experience between students andwell-being services
  • A lounge-like environment in the library
  • Increase the amount of water fountains on campus
  • Increase housing advice for students
  • Create a ‘rate your landlord’ program for students toleave feedback
  • Ensure the mental health guide remains updated
  • Bring the ‘Good Night Out’ training to our Union Bar
  • Run a Safe Zone campaign to increase knowledge and usage

Welsh Affairs Officer
Megan Fflur Colbourne

Megan was GymGym President last year and sat on the Pêl Rwyd Tawe Committee, so she definitely has what it takes to represent Welsh speaking students in Swansea. She’s also here to represent anyone with an interest in learning Welsh or finding out more about Welsh culture and history.

‘Shwmae! I’m Megan and I’m here to represent all students in all-things Welsh. If you’re interested in learning the language or about the culture, let me know.’

  • Ensuring students who are studying in Welsh receive the same learning opportunities, support and resources
  • Introduce a Welsh Language Rep within each college
  • Ensure that there are opportunities available to learn and develop the Welsh language
  • Organise friendly, informal sessions to encourage students to practice Welsh
  • Ensure that the Welsh language and culture is integral within the Uni
  • Increase the Welsh presence across both campuses
  • Raise awareness of national Welsh days throughout the year

Megan Fflur Colbourne

Roedd Megan yn Llywydd y GymGym llynedd ac yn rhan o Bwyllgor Clwb Pêl Rwyd Tawe, felly mae ganddi ddigon o brofiad i gynrychioli myfyrwyr Cymraeg yn Abertawe. Mae hi yma i gynrychioli unrhyw un sydd â diddordeb mewn dysgu Cymraeg neu wybod rhagor am ein hanes a diwylliant.
