Calling all horse lovers! We are SUEC, Swansea University Equestrian Club, open to everyone! Whether you have your own horse or have never sat in the saddle before, everyone is welcome.
We welcome riders of all abilities and offer professional tuition from a BHSI instructor. Whether you want to try riding for the first time or take your dressage and jumping to the next level, our club is for you!
🏇 Where We Ride
Our weekly lessons take place at Dinefwr Riding Centre in Ammanford.

Our wide range of horses and ponies will take you from learning how to do a rising trot to being able to ride sequence changes on one of our PSG schoolmasters, or from trotting over a single pole on the ground to jumping a full BSJA course of jumps.’

🏇 Beginners & Nervous Riders
Trying a new sport at university can feel daunting, especially when you have never done it before. Our club provides a friendly and supportive environment where you can learn at your own pace, build your confidence and meet people who share a love of horses.
It does not matter if you have never ridden before - complete beginners are always welcome!
🏇 Competitions
The club has two teams of five riders who compete across the UK in BUCS Equestrian. Alongside our two BUCS teams, we also have a Development Team for riders who show potential and would benefit from further training and experience.
BUCS competitions are two phase events, consisting of dressage and showjumping, with riders competing on horses provided by the host university. Our teams have achieved great success in previous years, progressing to compete at team and individual regionals.
Team trials take place at the beginning of each academic year and include a novice-level dressage test and and showjumping round. These are observed by our BHSI instructor, who then makes recommendations to the Team Captain.
Trials are relaxed and welcoming, and you do not need previous competition experience to take part.

🏇 Lessons
Lessons take place on Wednesday afternoons, with transport arranged each week.
There is no pressure to attend every session, although we would obviously love to see members frequently! Dinefwr has a wide selection of horses, from steady neddys to experienced competition horses.
- Group lessons cost £35 per hour lesson, plus £3 towards the driver’s travel costs.
- A block booking of ten lessons costs £30 per lesson
- A block of five lessons costs £32.50 per lesson.
