About Us

Welcome to the Swansea University History Society 2023/24!

Who we are:

The History Society exists to represent all history lovers in Swansea University. If you study any type of History or Humanities degree, have a love of history outside of your studies, or want to learn more about the past, we're the society for you! We offer a range of events, from laid back socials where you can meet people on your course, to academic and employability events that allow you to make the most of your degree! Be sure to buy a membership to keep up to date!

What we do:

We aim to vary our events as much as possible. We hold regular socials, both alcoholic and sober, where you can get to know people on your course in a much more friendly environment than the lecture hall - these include pub quizzes and pub crawls (with historical themes), study sessions and coffee socials, and joint events with the other academic societies. We also aim to maximise the value of History at Swansea by offering talks and workshops with organisations, organising trips to historical sites and archives, and assisting the department's academic journal Gorffennol!

Key Dates for Semester One:

November 29th - Historical Movie Night: Life of Brian
December 1st - Winter Wonderland with American Studies Society
December 8th - Christmas Pub Quiz with American Studies Society
And plenty of other regular socials and events!

Your committee 2023/24:

President: Matthew Stevens
Secretary: Abigail Miller
Treasurer: Samuel Bricker
Social Secretary: Lauri Golding
Vice-President: James Wynne-Ferguson
