Student Minds

It is our aim to contribute to battling the stigma attached to mental illnesses.

We are here to help if you are affected by mental illness, or know someone who is and would like to help support them.

The Student Minds Society is run by students for students, with the aim of complementing the welfare services that are currently offered at Swansea University. This society is designed to provide a further means of support to students. We aim to promote positive wellbeing on campus, creating understanding and connect people to the resources they need to thrive. The friendly new committee for 2019/20 all have experience in mental health awareness, and we are keen to help and educate students in the best possible way we can. You can find out more about the new committee through meet and greet profiles on our Facebook page, or at Freshers Fayre in September!

We listen to the needs of students, and throughout campaigns, we will address issues that affect so many, ranging from anxiety, eating disorders, stress and depression, by raising awareness and challenging the social stigma. This year, we have plans for Mental Health Awareness Week, guest talks, helpful sessions, and socials, as well as providing general help and support. Whilst
will be working primarily with the Student Minds charity, we are excited to be working closely with the new Welfare Officer, as well as the Advice and Support centre, and the student-run Facebook page, Swanvice.

The aim of Student Minds is to promote positive mental well-being amongst students. Our society will also aim to reinforce the term "Mental Wealth", where it is used to challenge ideas about mental health issues, as well as emphasising what things can be done to help, not only ourselves but also those around us.

We'd like as many students as possible to get involved this year! If you have any questions, please contact the committee by emailing studentminds@swansea-societies.co.uk or messaging our Facebook page.
