Your Education Officer represents all students on academic issues, both locally and nationally. Zahid’s role ensures the selection and development of Subject and College Reps for all academic departments. He also works with the University to make sure all students are receiving beneficial feedback and assessment. The role encompasses anything from employability to library fines!
“This year I plan to change and implement the most effective academic representation system that Swansea University has ever seen. I want to start a debate on careers and employability that ends with an increase in resources for students. I will also be campaigning to ensure that every student has the opportunity to take part in extracurricular activities. “   Â

Tomorrow, Swansea University & Swansea University Students’ Union will see its first ever training conference for Subject Reps. Click here for the final conference pack which contains an up to date Agenda, details about room bookings and much more. The Conference will take place in Dining Room A from 10am and will conclude at 4pm. Lunch will be provided.
Looking at the planning sheet for our workshops, I’m quite excited to see that we’ve got a range of specialists coming in to train our Reps. We will discuss everything from what ‘students as partners’ means for Reps negotiating a better deal for their class mates to workshops about communicating with ‘hard to reach’ students.
Of course, you’ll be able to directly apply everything you learn on Saturday to your role. Where reps demonstrate this, we will look to award it on your Higher Education Achievement Report – a document that comes with your Degree Certificate.
With so many big changes happening quickly, it’s going to be hard work getting into the swing of things - but I’m genuinely excited to see the direction that we’re now on with regards to student representation. The power to change how your education is delivered at Swansea University is back in the hands of students. Students’ Union staff have been working hard to make sure that tomorrow is useful, exciting and engaging for everyone -see you tomorrow!
