QUALIFIED DIVERS ONLY: On Sunday, 11th January 2026, we will be running a fun dive at Cromhall Quarry where you can "explore submerged vehicles and fascinating underwater landscapes all within a safe and controlled environment". As there is somewhere near the site that has a compressor, divers may be able to do two dives (yippee). We will have a total of 6 spaces.
Estimated timings for the day:
- 07:30 - meet at the dive locker if kit is needed
- 07:50 - arrive at dive locker if no kit is needed
- 08:00 - depart from dive locker
- 10:00 - arrive at Cromhall Quarry
- As it's a small group dive times will be decided on the day.
Cost breakdown
- Sub Aqua event ticket - £15 (This will cover the transport costs)
- Cromhall Quarry diver site fee - £20 (book AFTER buying the ticket above)
- Tank refill - £7.50-8.50 (to be paid on the day at the site)
Transport
Its around 1 hour 50m journey one way (84 miles). Transport will be provided by our dive manager, Adam Clamp. Lifts will be provided from the dive locker to the quarry, to and from refill stations, and back to the dive locker. NO PICK-UP OR DROP-OFFS TO BAY CAMPUS. If you do live on Bay Campus, you will have to find your own way to and from the dive locker.
Borrowing kit
As we have done previously, those who need to borrow kit will need to come to the kitroom (aka. dive locker) behind the National Pool for 07:30 on sunday morning to try the kit on and so we can make sure everything is distributed properly. Those who have their own kit and only need a tank can arrive later at 07:50.
What you need to do/bring
- Buy your ticket for the event (£15)
- Buy your ticket directly from the Cromhall Quarry website for the day (£20 per person site fee)
- Attend the kitroom fittings if neccessary
- Plenty of water, breakfast and lunch (it's going to be a long day so make sure you bring enough!)
- Your dive certification
- Money for tank refill and if you fancy it, some may argue more importantly, a pint (cash or card)
- Make sure you rinse all of your kit that you have borrowed properly with freshwater after returning to the kitroom
- Your own/borrowed equipment
