Vobster Quay Dive

Vobster Quay Dive

About

Vobster Quay Saturday 07/02/2026

QUALIFIED DIVERS ONLY: On Saturday 7th February, we will be running a fun dive at Vobster Quay where "you'll find a rich assortment of fascinating submerged objects just waiting to be discovered. From the natural to the unnatural and the historic to the contemporary" with "depths from 6 to 36 metres and a myriad of fascinating underwater attractions just waiting to be explored". As there is somewhere near the site that has a compressor, divers will be able to do two dives (yippee). We will have a total of 10 spaces with one reserved for committee who will be driving, leaving 9 available to club members on a first-come first-serve basis.

Dive brief

Dive depth and durations will be dependent on buddy team certifications and everyone will need to do no decompression stop dives unless at least one buddy has a dive computer. Divers without computers are limited to 12m with a max dive time of 20 minutes are not required to do a decompression stop, those with computers can dive to any depth within their certified depth for max 1 hour. There will be two waves of divers for each of the two dives. Buddy pairs will be determined once we know who will be joining.

Borrowing kit

As we have done previously, those who need to borrow kit will need to come to the kitroom (aka. dive locker) behind the National Pool for 07:00 on sunday morning to try the kit on and so we can make sure everything is distributed properly. Those who have their own kit and only need a tank can arrive later at 07:20.

What you need to do/bring

  • Attend the kitroom fittings if neccessary
  • Plenty of water, breakfast and lunch (it's going to be a long day so make sure you bring enough!)
  • Your dive certification
  • Money for tank refill and if you fancy it, some may argue more importantly, a pint (cash or card)
  • Make sure you rinse all of your kit that you have borrowed properly with freshwater after returning to the kitroom
