Cromhall Quarry Dives 

Those attending will need to get their entry tickets to Cromhall Quarry (aka The Lake)fromt he following website for Saturday 9th May:

Tickets cost £20. Once you have purchased these tickets, purchase the tickets on the SU website and join the Whatsapp groupchat via the link in the Members chat. 

Estimated timings for the day:

  • 07:30 - meet at the dive locker if kit is needed
  • 07:50 - arrive at dive locker if no kit is needed
  • 08:00 - depart from dive locker
  • 10:00 - arrive at Cromhall Quarry
  • As it's a small group dive times will be decided on the day.
  • 16:30 - Latest time for leaving the site 
  • 18:30 - Latest arrival back at dive locker

 

Timings may vary depending on the number of divers snd number of dives. Dive depths and durations will be determined by whether buddy pairs have dive computers.

 

Cost breakdown

  1. Sub Aqua event ticket - FREE
  2. Cromhall Quarry diver site fee - £20 (book AFTER buying the ticket above)
  3. Tank refill - £7.50-8.50 (to be paid on the day at the site) - tanks MUST be emptied at the site and refilled prior to the first wave of divers (this has been discussed with the people at Cromhall and has been given the green light but let them know when you arrive that you are from Swansea Uni Sub Aqua Club to cover our backs)

Transport

Its around 1 hour 50m journey one way (84 miles). Transport and kit will need to be split between drivers but if neccessary by our dive manager, Adam Clamp, can alsot ake people/kit. Car shares will be required from the dive locker to the quarry, to and from refill stations, and back to the dive locker. If you do live on Bay Campus, you will have to find your way to and from the dive locker if kit is needed or if it is possible to be picked up by drivers en-route if kit is not needed. Those driving can be reimbersed for fuel using the university reimbersement forms or can work out cost for fuel between passengers and split it that way (what ever worksbest for you, just let committee know whcih youre going to do). 

Borrowing kit

As we have done previously, those who need to borrow kit will need to come to the kitroom (aka. dive locker) behind the National Pool for 07:30 on Saturday morning to try the kit on and so we can make sure everything is distributed properly. Those who have their own kit and only need a tank can arrive later at 07:50. Prior tothe dive, message in the groupchat to let committee know what kit you need. 

What you need to do/bring

  • Buy your ticket directly from the Cromhall Quarry website for the day (£20 per person site fee)
  • Buy your ticket for the event on the SU website (FREE)
  • Attend the kitroom fittings if neccessary
  • Bring plenty of water, breakfast and lunch (it's going to be a long day so make sure you bring enough!)
  • Your dive certification
  • Money for tank refill and if you fancy it, some may argue more importantly, a pint (cash or card) 
  • Make sure you rinse all of your kit that you have borrowed properly with freshwater after returning to the kitroom 
  • Your own/borrowed equipment
