Improving the extenuating circumstance policy to provide a clearer and more consistent approach, which is cooperative and operates in tandem with wider student commitments, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable student experience.
- Have an extension policy which facilitates a wider range of interruptions and pressures, such as
- Students with caring or work commitments
- Student volunteers (society and club leaders, etc...)
- Students competing and training for competitions
- Mental health challenges, minor illness and personal affairs
- Ensure the policy is inclusive and consistent
- 'Minimal Proof Required' approach - introduction of self declaration
- Manually monitored for misuse
- Aim for more trust and transparency - allows trends and appropriate response to challenges facing the student body
- Maintain the proforma system and ensure those provisions are appropriately met
- Remind students that its not a free pass, the work still needs to get done!
