Improving the extenuating circumstance policy to provide a clearer and more consistent approach, which is cooperative and operates in tandem with wider student commitments, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable student experience.

  • Have an extension policy which facilitates a wider range of interruptions and pressures, such as
    • Students with caring or work commitments
    • Student volunteers (society and club leaders, etc...)
    • Students competing and training for competitions
    • Mental health challenges, minor illness and personal affairs
  • Ensure the policy is inclusive and consistent
    • 'Minimal Proof Required' approach - introduction of self declaration
    • Manually monitored for misuse
    • Aim for more trust and transparency - allows trends and appropriate response to challenges facing the student body
  • Maintain the proforma system and ensure those provisions are appropriately met
  • Remind students that its not a free pass, the work still needs to get done!
