This year students with accommodation debt will be able to enrol onto the next year of their course almost immediately, whereas previously this would have delayed the process
If you have accommodation debt, either with campus, the village, Ty Beck or an SAS Lettings property, you can now enrol as soon as you contact Residential Services by phone.
The message you will receive on trying to enrol with accommodation debt is the following:
If your debt is only related to outstanding accommodation fees you will be able to enrol, once you have discussed the matter with a member of staff from Residential Services. Please contact Residential Services on: Tel No: +44 (0) 1792 513091 to arrange a meeting.
Welfare Officer Charlotte is pleased with this progress, “The SU didn’t think that it was fair that students who were having money issues had to then have the added worry of not being able to enrol, which would potentially delay loans and grants and may result in students getting behind in their studies too.
We understand everyone must pay their debts, but we’re glad accommodation debt and enrolment has been separated out, as we believe your housing status shouldn’t have an impact on your course.”
If you’re having problems with money or are worried about anything to do with your life at university, contact the SU Advice and Support Centre by: Email advice@swansea-union.co.uk; Phone 01792 295821 or you can drop in. The ASC is at the back of Fulton House, on the left as you face the front of the building.
