- First point of contact for any issues relating to the well-being of members. – Including issues such as: discrimination, harassment, bullying, inclusion, mental health, and concerns and suggestions for the club.
- Will act as a mediator in member disputes, and must maintain strict confidentiality of member’s issues.
- Must be able to signpost members to appropriate services and resources.
- Must offer solutions and compromises when handling disputes, and must be prepared to escalate more serious issues through the appropriate channels.
- Will work closely with committee members, especially captain, to maintain the welfare of members.
- Must be present in the organisation of socials to make sure welfare of members is protected.
Every other club has a welfare role, as the Surf Club is one of the most established and largest clubs at Swansea University, it is vital for the welfare of members to be taken seriously.
When disputes and issues arise from members of our club, without a welfare role our current system in the club is vague in dealing with these problems and would benefit from a specific welfare role.
