Calisthenics is an excellent way to get fit and build strength without the need for a gym membership or any additional equipment.
As a society we aim to establish a community of people whose goal is to master their own body weight and defy gravity. We plan to hold weekly relaxed group training sessions at the exercise bars on bay and the ones near the coop in Brynmill (check "events" page for dates and times).
Whether you are trying to do your first pull up or you are a planch master, all levels of fitness are welcome.
What is Calisthenics?
Calisthenics is essentially the mastery of one’s own body weight. Think push-ups and pull-ups – any movement where you are using the weight of your body to build strength is Calisthenics. It’s all about moving your body through space. Calisthenics exercises train the body as a whole, rather than isolating individual muscle groups like traditional weightlifting. This means it can be used to achieve a range of personal goals - you can use it to get fit, build muscle, gain strength and learn new skills. Most important of all, Calisthenics is just fun and can be performed virtually anywhere.
