The Applied Linguistics Society has the potential to play a valuable role in your Swansea experience, especially in the world's current situation. Membership is free and open, just e-mail us at, and follow us on social media!

Academic Stuff

We host monthly AppLing Forum events, academic lectures hosted by a range of guests from PhD students, staff from the Applied Linguistics Department to many others. If you are interested in publishing and working as a group why not join the Swansea University Applied Linguistics Journal - this is an annual publication dedicated to showcasing the best essays written by Applied Linguistics students. Follow the journal on Twitter at @SwanseaApplied to see latest updates or get in touch at to join the editorial team.

Social Stuff

We host mixers (usually @JC's Bar with drinks and pizza!) for all Applied Linguistics students or anyone that wants to join us. We also help run the AppLing group: which is neither a club nor a lecture but partakes in the nature of both. There are no rules or agendas - simply an informal discussion group that meets every Tuesday to discuss linguistics, language, or even how we are all doing. We also have our social media accounts (see above), which are a great network to keep in touch and discuss! If there's anything you want us to do, get in touch and let us know!
