Cardiff Canton is the diesel train maintenance depot in Cardiff, operated by Transport for Wales. Train cleaning, repairing and overnight storing of all diesel trains in Cardiff occurs here, making it an excellent site for seeing every aspect of railway maintenance and engineering.
Below is information for the day such as what PPE is required, Safe Workplace App (SWAPP), meeting point and contact information.
PPE required
PPE needed for the site visit is safety glasses, hi-vis vests and safety shoes. I can manage to get you PPE if required but I will need to be informed ASAP.
Safe Workplace App (SWAPP)
SWAPP details for access and inductions which must be completed in order to be allowed to undertake the site visit. Instructions will be provided upon ticket purchase.
Meeting Point
The Meeting Point for the tour will be the reception building at Canton Depot.
Car parking is allowed at Cardiff City Stadium, a 15-20 minute walk to the Canton Depot.
Ideally, you can catch the train to Ninian Park which is adjacent to Canton Depot.
