Find what's on this summer with Swansea Summer Socials!

Staying in Swansea this summer? Don’t worry, Get ACTIVE has your summer sorted.

As part of Swansea University’s exciting ‘Summer Socials’ programme, Get ACTIVE will be delivering a packed schedule of activities throughout the summer months, giving students plenty of opportunities to stay active, socialise, and make the most of everything Swansea has to offer.

The majority of Get ACTIVE’s core programme will continue on both Singleton and Bay Campuses until the 15th June, with regular sessions including football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, and much more. Outdoor activities will also continue throughout June, taking full advantage of Swansea’s stunning coastline and summer weather.

Among the highlights returning this summer are surfing sessions, including an additional Saturday surf session following huge popularity this year. Participants will also have the chance to revisit the breathtaking Four Waterfalls, which are even more impressive in the sunshine, as well as explore the incredible Llyn Y Fan Fach on guided walks that have quickly become a favourite among students this term.

For those wanting to try something new, Get ACTIVE is continuing its golf sessions at the newly refurbished Gowerton Driving Range. Equipped with exciting new ball-tracking technology, participants can test their swing on virtual golf courses from around the world, or simply see how far they can hit the ball. Get ACTIVE activator Kieran has set the challenge with a personal best of 150 yards, and anyone who beats it wins a chocolate bar on him.

The programme doesn’t stop there. This July, students can take part in a unique surfboard crafting workshop at local surfboard shaper Adam Williams’ longboard shop in Gower. Participants will learn about the artistry and craftsmanship behind designing and carving surfboards before heading to Llangennith for a surf lesson. Those looking for a more relaxed pace can instead enjoy a scenic walk to Broughton Blue Pool.

All activities form part of Swansea University’s ‘Summer Socials’ initiative, designed to keep your student experience vibrant and engaging throughout the summer period.

After all, the reason we put up with Swansea in the winter is to reap the rewards of the sunshine and the coast in the summer!

Students can find out more about upcoming events and book tickets by searching “Summer Socials Swansea Uni”.

If high-energy activities aren’t your thing, there’s no need to miss out. Weekly yoga sessions will continue every Monday and Thursday at 12:30pm on Singleton Campus throughout June and July, offering the perfect opportunity to unwind and relax.

Get ACTIVE is also encouraging students to share ideas for future sessions and activities. Anyone with suggestions can get in touch by emailing getactive@swansea.ac.uk or messaging the team on WhatsApp at 07394 028450.

This summer, Swansea is the place to stay active, try something new, and make unforgettable memories.
