Objectives
The goal of Sober Week is to promote inclusive, alcohol-free social opportunities that support student wellbeing and ensure all students feel welcome in Students’ Union spaces. The initiative aims to challenge the assumption that student social life must centre around alcohol and to provide accessible alternatives for a diverse student population.
Planned Actions
Campaign Development: Develop a week-long initiative highlighting alcohol-free events and activities.
Inclusive Social Programming: Explore opportunities to deliver or promote sober-friendly socials across SU spaces.
Awareness and Visibility: Raise awareness of sober and low-alcohol options available to students.
Collaboration: Engage with societies, services, and SU departments to support delivery.
Measures of Success
Student Participation: Engagement from students who may not typically attend alcohol-focused events.
Inclusivity Feedback: Positive feedback regarding accessibility and inclusivity of social opportunities.
Foundation for Future Delivery: Creation of a scalable model for future sober-inclusive activity.
