Societies

Getting involved in a society is a great way of meeting new people and meeting people who share similar interests as you. With over 150 societies available there is plenty to choose from, with many societies offering taster days for new students to attend and get a feel for the society before signing up. Joining a society, despite being a lot of fun, also offers communities of support for students as well as transferable skills for future employment if you land yourself a space on the committee!

How To Join

To join a society, select from the option list below, add your membership to your basket and checkout. You can also check out the society’s social media accounts for more information about the society and membership details.

Here at the Student Union, we have an extensive list of societies available to our students. However, if you can’t find one that’s perfect for you be sure to let us know! We make sure the process of starting new societies is easy and straightforward for our students to ensure everyone can find the right group for them. Contact the Societies Team with any suggestions or enquires about setting up a new society.

How Groups are Governed

Our student groups are run by students, for students  with support from the Students’ Union to help them grow and succeed. While they’re not official representatives of the Union, they follow our policies to make sure their activities are safe, inclusive, and positive for the wider community.
